Hey guys, we are John & Kayla! We have been together for four and a half years & married for one. We are parents to a sweet & stubborn black lab/german shepherd mix puppy named Adonis. We also have one child, a son – Kanaan, who was stillborn in November of 2019.
We hope, if you choose to follow us on this journey, that you get to know our family. It is our desire (though we are in no way experts) to raise awareness about pregnancy/infant loss. To make it even more personal, to raise awareness about stillbirth & placental abruption. The pain of losing a child is so isolating. We truly hope that by opening up & sharing our story, showing the highs & lows of this grief, it will help other families find the courage to do so.
This blog’s focus isn’t so much about us but our son & all of the babies around the world lost before him & after. Their lives matter. Kanaan’s Promise speaks to a promise land unseen and blessings untold. The joy of innumerable dreams and untold plans that mothers and fathers have for their unborn children are summed up here.
As often as you think of our family, please also think of so many others who are grieving their children. Remember our babies.
